JOB OPPORTUNITY: Operations Assistant (FULL TIME)

Saturday 9th November 2024

We're looking for a fun, enthusiastic and reliable person to provide additional support at Flynqy Pilot Training, our approved pilot training school located on the beautiful North Cornwall Coast at Cornwall Airport Newquay.

The successful candidate will join our experienced and passionate team as a full-time operations assistant. This diverse role will allow you to get involved in every aspect of day-to-day life at a flight training organisation. You'll be responsible for meeting and greeting our customers, taking and processing customer payments, managing accounts, and maintaining training documentation while building up knowledge in aviation-specific areas, such as maintaining aircraft documentation and advising new students on possible training routes.

The position will require a high degree of flexibility from the successful candidate, as hours will vary to suit the booking schedule, daylight hours, and weather conditions, often involving longer days and evening work in the summer. The ability to work weekends is essential. Due to our location and the nature of working at a commercial airport, all applicants must be at least 18, have a full UK driving licence, and have access to their own transport. The successful candidate will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS Certificate and Airside Security Pass.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide a warm, professional welcome and excellent customer service to our customers and their families.
  • Offer advice and information to potential and new customers on our flight training courses, prices and training requirements.
  • Accurately maintain customer accounts and training records, process payments, manage bookings and respond to telephone and email enquiries.
  • Support the instructional team to ensure the smooth running of the daily flight training program.
  • Communicate with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Airport Dispatch to manage the daily flying and refuelling schedule.
  • Accurately maintain aircraft documentation, including technical logs and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure aircraft are suitably parked, refuelled, secured and covered at the end of the flying day.
  • General housekeeping and cleaning duties to provide a clean and tidy space for our customers and staff.
  • Promote safety awareness throughout the organisation.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above.
  • An excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel or equivalent spreadsheet applications.
  • A good working knowledge of other Microsoft 365 packages, including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in dealing with customers over the phone, via email, and in person.
  • Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, proactively managing concurrent tasks and prioritising work requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy in your work, striving to maintain high standards consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude with the ability to use your own initiative and a keen interest in personal development.
  • A good understanding of GDPR is required.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of previous administration, customer service, or receptionist work experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience with POS systems such as Zettle.
  • Previous experience and familiarity with Mac OS.
  • Aviation knowledge is a benefit, but full training will be provided.
  • Experience utilising social media platforms for business, including Facebook, Instagram, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn and X.
  • Experience using Photoshop, Lightroom and Canva photo editing software.
